The library shares the school’s responsibility to teach students to think effectively, efficiently, creatively, with satisfaction and pleasure. Learning to learn in the library requires the librarian to work as a teacher in an active guiding role of the student who works with ideas, who are taught to identify, analyze, select, gather and unify, and therefore students develop thinking logical for it must be with the accurate advice and capable of the librarian. The basic idea is that the library is necessary to school for the development of educational plans because they require modern education and the great changes that have been operating in the learning and general education of the students. The library is a type of information system is intended for storage of information recorded, mainly in book form. However, although the word derives from the Latin library and this library to see what makes the Greek word book, the modern meaning of the term refers to any compilation of data collected in many other formats (micro films, magazines, recordings , films, slides, and video tapes and other electronic means). Mercedes Aguilar According to Chia (1979), in contemporary education, the school library is the hub of intellectual activity of the school and is the center of bibliographic information and intellectual. A library should not be simply added to a class or an educational institution.
You must be an integral part, and even the heart of the school. Sometimes students go to the library with a guide for the teacher-oriented questions to be answered with minimal elements and the mechanical and schematic way possible. When requesting information are not clear on the author, title, do not know what the book and often requested by the color or size. If the library unable to locate the information when the task will copy one, two or three paragraphs, may be one of the beginning of the text, middle or end, thereby reducing the level of complexity and processing required for the degree is filed. Where is the management literature? Where the need for the student to elaborate and interpret the text to perform the tasks?. Do you take advantage of the educational value, how valuable the book? These and other methodological shortcomings, significantly impact on students who are difficult to resolve on its own, independent work directed by the teacher. To help address these shortcomings, the library plays a vital role and it must have a library prepared to provide students with ample opportunities to enrich the contents of the classes, while helping them select their readings, to find the information and teach the skills to use information. The school library must contribute to the formation of interests and developing cognitive skills in students, to strengthen the independent work with books, and encourage the spirit of research. Yes it is essential to bear in mind that if a student to study material not know to extract the main, central ideas, to express a conclusion, a concept, to extend what they expressed, but know where to look for information or how to use it, can hardly meet their school work. The school librarian should be in tune with requirements offered by the development of new information technologies and communications, so a model must be competent, creative, innovative and able to develop professionally.
